The Basset Hound is a distinctive breed known for its long, droopy ears, short legs, and powerful sense of smell. Originally bred in France as a scent hound for tracking small game like rabbits, Basset Hounds are incredibly skilled at following scents for long distances. Despite their somewhat droopy and laid-back appearance, they are determined and focused when on a scent trail. They are also known for their calm, gentle temperament, and they get along well with children and other pets. Though they're not overly energetic, Basset Hounds do enjoy leisurely walks and outdoor sniffing adventures.
