Breed Personality

The Brown Bernedoodle, a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, is known for its friendly and affectionate nature. They are known to be generally friendly, playful, and good-natured and almost always play nice with children and other pets. They have inherited the Poodle’s intelligence and are very trainable,. With a moderate to high energy level they do require regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Depending on whether you opt for a standard, mini, or toy Bernedoodle, their size can vary. Standard Bernedoodles can weigh between 70 to 90 pounds and have a coat that is typically curly or wavy, hypoallergenic, and low-shedding.  They are generally healthy but can be prone to issues like hip dysplasia and certain genetic conditions, so regular veterinary check-ups are essential.

Bernedoodles are very loyal and form strong bonds with their families, often being described as velcro dogs because they like to stay close to their humans.

Breed Owner

A good owner for a Brown Bernedoodle should have an active lifestyle as the Bernedoodles need regular exercise, so an owner who enjoys outdoor activities like walking, hiking, or running would be ideal. These dogs thrive on human interaction and can suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for long periods. A good owner should have time to spend with them.

Training a Bernedoodle does require patience and consistency due to their intelligence and energy but the results of a well trained dog are worth it.

Those beautiful coats do require regular grooming to prevent matting and keep them healthy, so finding time to commit to this routine is necessary.
