The Black Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular and well-loved dog breeds, known for its friendly and versatile nature. Besides friendly they are outgoing, and good-natured, making them excellent family pets.

Labradors are medium to large-sized dogs, typically weighing between 55 to 80 pounds and standing about 21.5 to 24.5 inches tall at the shoulder. They have a short, dense, and water-resistant double coat that sheds seasonally and requires regular brushing.

Labradors are highly energetic and require plenty of exercise, making them great companions for active individuals and hence why they are so popular in Colorado.

They have an average lifespan of between 10 to 12 years. While generally healthy they can be prone to conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and certain eye conditions.

Labradors are highly intelligent and easy to train, often excelling in obedience training and various dog sports. Being so versatile and easily trained they are commonly used as service dogs, therapy dogs, and in roles such as search and rescue, hence seeing them as ski patrol dogs on many ski resorts.
