LEONBERGER: A giant dog breed originating from Germany, majestic and gentle, with a heart as grand as their size!
BREED PERSONALITY
The Leonberger is a true gentle giant. Aside from his size, he is elegant and friendly in both his manners and moves. He is not a robust brute at all, he’s playful with both adults and children alike. He has a loud roaring bark and will let you know when visitors arrive. Because of his great personality, he will warm up to visitors quickly. He has a sensitive soul that takes things to heart, which means no harsh training and no screaming.
BREED OWNER
Out of all breeds, this pup is probably the biggest fan of cuddle time. Even though he has a very calm nature, this powerful dog needs at least one hour of exercise every day. Thankfully, his exercise doesn’t need to be extremely intense, a long brisk walk around the forest or park will be enough to get his heart going and a swim in the lake will go down a treat! This breed is able to live in an apartment , but only if it has enough space and his exercise requirements are met. The ideal home would be a large space with access to a private yard. Leonberger’s coat requires a lot of work to keep it looking his best, he sheds heavily throughout the year and even more during the summer.
