NEWFOUNDLAND: A large, muscular and sweet-tempered working dog, the gentle giant with a heart as big as its paws!
BREED PERSONALITY
A large dog breed with a hard-working and gentle disposition. Newfoundlands are smart, sweet, and very loyal. They make for loving companions, and it is in their nature to take to work in water rescue and other jobs. These dogs were bred for life on the water with a thick coat to insulate them and webbed paws for swimming. They're even usually great with kids thanks to their calm and gentle temperament. Newfoundlands have a modest energy level and don't need a crazy amount of exercise and play every day.
BREED OWNER
Newfoundlands have a strong desire to work and guard. They need daily exercise and the proper training and socialization to guarantee they are well-mannered dogs. Their thick coat requires a moderate amount of grooming and can cause them to overheat in the hot weather. Our Newfoundland dog breed hats make the perfect gift for the dog dad in your family!
