Scotties tend to be high-spirited, confident and moderately independent dogs, though they are totally loyal to their favorite humans. They are watchful with outsiders or threats but loving with family. High intellect helps to shape the breed personality which can sometimes make it difficult to train.
BREED OWNER:
Scotties love to run and chase toys, so at least an hour of exercise a day is ideal. Scotties are not swimmers and can easily drown. The Scottie does not shed a lot but needs grooming and weekly brushings. Smart, but not always eager to learn, the Scottie should be trained and socialized at an early age.
