BREED PERSONALITY

Catahoulas take their work very seriously whether it be on a farm or hunting. They have an energetic and alert personality. With their families they are playful and loving. They can be reserved around strangers, but they are not aggressive towards people. They do not always get along well with other household pets due to being territorial. BREED OWNER

Catahoulas need  a pet parent who will be firm and consistent with training  and will give them lots of exercise. Strive for at least two hours of exercise a day in the way of walks, runs, swims, hikes and puzzle toys. They should be kept on leash because of their high prey drive. Grooming is easy with a Catahoula as their short hair only requires weekly brushing to remove loose fur.
